Hosting that I
personally recommend
"Below are few hosting companies that I personally recommend. I insist
that you research their web hosting services first and compare with
other host before you decide to sign up. Ask yourself. What the few
main requirements that you are looking for in a host and decide carefully by
comparing the features, price and most importantly, hosting support" -
HostPulse.com Founder, Terence L
|
ServerDispatch.com - Price starts at US$159 per month. Generous amount
of hard disk space, control panel features, bandwidth, memory size. The
company offers good server management system. Please research before
purchasing.
|
WebsiteSource.com - One of the good
VPS plans I
have tried and tested.
|
ExaBytes.com - One of the many hosting
companies in Asia that is worth
researching. One of my hosting plans had its server changed frequently which
I thought there has been interruptions, but service is still available while
under maintenance.
|
IpowerWeb.com - Recently, one of the
host that we have
pleasant dealing with. Hosting is affordable, but features may be
limited.
|
|
SingleHop Dedicated
Servers - In the year of 2008, I highly rate this company as one of the
very best dedicated hosting companies around. Technical support staff has
been friendly and it is easy to reach the management if there are any
unsolved problems.

Factoring
The purchase of debts owed, or "accounts receivable," in exchange for immediate payment at a discount. In e-commerce, the term is often applied to ISOs that offer to process credit card transactions through their own merchant account, rather than through an account established by the merchant, in exchange for a percentage of the transaction or other fee. Factoring of credit card debt is illegal.
FAQ / Frequently Asked Questions
Most newsgroups contain a self-explanatory list of questions and answers designed to guide newcomers, which will also explain the purpose of the group and give guidelines for posting messages.
FDDI / Fibre Distributed Data Interface
An American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-specified standard for fiber optic links with data rates up to 100 Mbit/s.
FDM / Frequency-Division Multiplexing
FDM is a scheme in which numerous signals are combined for transmission on a single communications line or channel. Each signal is assigned a different frequency (subchannel) within the main channel.
Fiber Optic
A fine glass fiber that transmits light, sometimes known as optical fiber or just fiber. Fiber optic cables transmit data much faster than copper wires and are much less susceptible to electromagnetic interference.
File Server
A computer responsible for the central storage and management of data files that can be accessed by other computers on the same network.
Filter
A program (or part of a program) that examines a message for specified criteria and then processes it accordingly. A good example is represented by the rules in many e-mail packages that allow a user to determine what happens to each incoming mail message.
Finger
A program for determining the name associated with an e-mail address, originally developed as part of BSD (Berkeley System Distribution) variant of UNIX. Finger programs can either be run on a local computer or be accessed via one of many finger Gateways on the Internet.
Firewall
A system composed of both hardware and software that enforces access control between two networks, usually between a private Local Area Network and the public Internet.
Flame
An abusive communication from a fellow Internet user, usually in a newsgroup but sometimes by e-mail or in a chat forum. Many things can trigger a flame.
Form
An HTML file containing ordinary content and "fields" that can be filled in by users to interact with a Web server. The input in a Web form is interpreted by a corresponding program using CGI, the Common Gateway Interface. Forms can send all kinds of information back to a Web server, which can be processed on the server to do anything -- search a database, add a user to a catalogue or subscriber list, make a purchase with a credit card, or run another program on the server remotely. Web search engines and directories use forms for taking user input, processing the request, and then sending back the requested information.
Forward DNS lookup
Forward DNS lookup is using an Internet domain name to find an IP address.
FpML / Financial Products Markup Language
FpML is a business information exchange standard based on XML that enables business-to-business over-the-counter financial derivative transactions using the Internet.
Fragment
A Fragment is a piece of a packet. When a router is forwarding an IP packet to a network that has a maximum packet size smaller than the packet size, it is forced to break up that packet into multiple fragments. These fragments will be reassembled by the IP layer at the destination host.
Frame
A group of bits including data plus one or more addresses and other protocol control information. Generally it is a block of variable length identified by a label at a link layer (layer 2 of the OSI reference model, i.e. an HDLC block).
Frame Relay
A high-speed packet-switched network protocol, often used in local and wide area networks.
Free Software Foundation
An organization dedicated to eliminating restrictions on copying, redistribution and modification of computer software.
Freemail
Any form of free E-Mail service, especially one that is web-based. Freemail services such as Hotmail and Rocketmail have been extremely successful as they enable anyone with access to a browser to have their own e-mail account.
Freeserve
A UK-based ISP that provides free Internet access to its subscribers. Freeserve was founded in late 1998 by Dixons, a high-street retailing group.
FrontPage
A popular, WYSIWYG editor for designing and maintaining web pages.
FrontPage Extension
FrontPage extensions are available on both Unix and NT in order for you to use the Microsoft FrontPage to build your web site.
FTP / File Transfer Protocol
A standard way for computers on the Internet to exchange files. Like HTTP, FTP programs use the TCP/IP protocols on which the Internet is based to manage the transmission of binary files from one place to another.
FTP Site
This is a server with an address on the internet that has been set up to use FTP to store and transfer files.
